Final tasks will be now undertaken at the intersectionincluding revegetation, finalising the installation of additional signage and completion of the site tidy-up.

The $5 million project toinstall traffic lights was part of the state government’s Safer Roads Sooner program in order to reducedelaysand improving safety for motorists.

Member for Logan Linus Power said the lights were switched on September 29as the project approached completion.

“Up until now, it has been a challenge to enter and exit Camp Cable Road to and from the highway,” hesaid.

“The newly upgraded intersection includes dedicated turning lanes, marked cycle lanes and improved outlining.

“20 new street lights were also installed to improve visibility and safety at night.”

Mr Power said the project was a significant investment for the area with works carried out over a 700-metre section of the highway and a 200-metre section of Camp Cable Road.

“An average of 22 direct jobs were supported over the life of the project,” he said.

“The work is not over yet, over coming months, the traffic signal timing between the intersection and Johanna and Tamborine streets intersection will be monitored.

“We want to make sure we get the best possible traffic flow results for the community and that the new lights time well with the existing infrastructure.”

Mr Powerthanked motorists and residents for theirpatiencesince work started in April.
