Night work on Great Western Highway

MOTORISTS are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Great Western Highway at Claremont Meadows from Tuesday, October 4to progress the Werrington Arterial Road upgrade.

Changes will be made to the layout of the current Gipps Street intersection at the Great Western Highway, including modifications to the median island and the laying of new asphalt east of the current intersection.

This work will start fromTuesdaybetween7pm and 6am, and take six shifts to complete, weather permitting.

Temporary lane closures will be in place while work is underway with at least one lane remaining open at all times.

Road users are advised to follow the direction of traffic controllers and all signs, including reduced speed limits.

Electronic signs will also be in place to notify motorists and nearby residents.

Work on the new Werrington Arterial Road is progressing andincludes widening atwo kilometre section of the Kent Road and Gipps Street corridor to four lanes and building two new east facing ramps on the M4 Motorway to increase capacity and improve travel times.

This work is part of the Australian and NSW governments’ $70 million project to build a new link between the M4 Motorway and Great Western Highway as part of the $3.6 billion Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan improving key arterial roads in western Sydney and reducing travel times.
