Make work health and safety a priority

Next week we celebrate Seniors Week with a range of diverse and interesting events and functions. I’m looking forward to contributing to the ‘As I Age’ project at the Devonport Regional Gallery. An interactive installation will be displayed to ignite thought and conversations about getting old and breaking the stigma of aging. The free installation is open for contributions to the whole community betweenOctober 3 and31.

Other activities include fitness classes, historical films, intergenerational morning teas and lunches and a ‘Fit for the Future’ event in Roundhouse Park onOctober 14, 10am to 1pm.Join in fishing, knitting, tai chi, bike riding, walking and more,followed by a free BBQ lunch. October is also Work Safe Month and a timely reminder that work health and safety isa priority so we go home at the end of each day to our families and communities.

During the month Council will hosta range of events and activities for its staff, trainees and volunteers, with a focus on the benefits of having a positive approach to personal health and wellbeing. This week also marks the launch of QUIT4October 2016 where we are encouraged to sign up for a month-long challenge to quit smoking.
