“I’m asking the community that if they have any sellable items in their garage, to get them out to be auctioned off for a good cause,” Cr Bourke said.

Some items have already been collected for the appeal, including afridge, writing desk and table.

People who have itemssuitable for auction can bring themto the former Clancy Motors site on HowickStreet.

“We are very appreciative of theBolam family for allowing us to use the old Clancy’s site,” Cr Bourke said.

The building will be manned from9am to4pm daily for the next two to three weeks, after which an auction date will be determined.

Cr Bourke said similar appeals have raised as much as $100,000 before and he is hopeful the community will be just as generous.

“It just takes someone like the Bolam family and myself to kick it off and then the community gets it going,” he said.

Inquiries about the appeal can be directed to Cr Bourke on 0416 207 370.
