Recently I have noticed a lot of artwork around Smithton, not only displayed in various shops, but also murals covering many walls on buildings.

These really give our town a great feel. Well done to these wonderful artists who have contributed to this great initiative as part of Art and Culture month.

Last week I had the privilege of opening the lawn bowls season. This year a number of new bowlers attended the open day for new bowlers. It ishoped some of these people may start playing this sport.

The pennant season starts this week.

While these facilities are a credit to those members who work hard to look after the rinks, it would be great if this club could get Government funding for a new synthetic surface. I hope these people enjoy another successful season.

Congratulations to the Saints Division 3 hockey side who recently won the Greater Northern League premiership with a 3-2 win over Devonport.

Another great achievement by our local sportspeople, well done.
